Far from the incessant tumult of the city, in a meadow set under the towering ridges of Mount Vulcan, tourists from all over are expected in an area of unreal beauty, in the middle of the nature to breathe and fill themselves with peace and tranquility,. A simple and "nice" place, as the Transylvanians say, mysteriously, in a fairytale land, where you can "walk" at will, relaxing under the stars at nightfall, or looking in the distance, by day, from the top of the hill, at the special panorama that unfolds before the eyes.
The place is located about 24 kilometers from Brad, in the locality of Buceș -Vulcan, in the commune of Buceș, Hunedoara, and its owners call it "Hodinarium" - from the archaic "hodină", being a different kind of campsite, a stylish one, in that hikers can "charge their batteries" in the same comfort that hotel rooms offer, in a special natural setting.
At the "Hodinarium" time seems to stand still. The "ApuZENii", as the people who walk on this seemingly magical place are called, come here to snatch a little from the tranquility of nature, enjoying a landscape that takes your breath away, in the same time not giving up to urban comfort. Each tent has its own bathroom - what few glamping houses in Romania (as these stylish campsites are called) offer, at this time, as well as a small outdoor terrace, from where tourists have the opportunity to admire, in the darkness of the night, the starry sky and the greatness of the moon, in the perfect silence that envelops this place.
The campsite offers accommodation in spacious and very chic tents, suspended on wooden decks, built above the ground. White spots, in the raw green of the grass, the tents are arranged in top conditions, being furnished in style and equipped with absolutely everything necessary, for a pleasant stay for those who choose to stay in this place. As soon as you step inside, you forget that you are, in fact, in a tent. Everything looks exactly like in a room, the difference being made only by the surrounding landscape. The place houses five tents and each of them can accommodate up to three people. They are each furnished with bed, bedside tables, armchairs. Towels and bed linen are provided, and electricity is provided by solar panels.
The location also has a fully equipped mini-kitchen, barbecue and those who want to enjoy a magical Transylvanian "potion" are provided with the kettle hot on the fire. Visitors can also relax in a wooden bath tub, and the comfort is complemented by the beauty of the surrounding area that invites you to hike.
"Hodinarium" is the destination of those who want to spend a few days in the middle of nature, escaping from the urban madness, and the idea of two young people from Hunedoara, livingin Bucharest, but for whom the pandemic "pushed" them closer to home. Husband and wife Iulia and Emil Ciucur turned their grandparents' land into a wonderful "glamping", now sought after by more and more tourists, many from abroad. Why "Hodinarium"? Simply, from "hodina", a word from the sweet Transylvanian language, which fits like a glove to this place.
„"The idea came to us last year, when, due to the pandemic, we came and spent more time here, with my grandmother, in Buceș -Vulcan. Every time I posted a photo online, the reactions were "Wow!" and everyone was asking us where we were and where this wonderful place was. And then we thought of arranging this glamping. In June this year we opened, and those who come are delighted. We have quite a lot of tourists, and the weekends are completely occupied. We didn't even manage to start up very well and we had a lot of requests.
Totul a venit așa, dintr-o dată.
Whether they choose to walk through the area at the foot of Mount Vulcan - a protected area, or simply enjoy the fresh air and beauty of the landscape, tourists who arrive at the "Hodinarium" discover a place that offers excellent accommodation conditions, where they can rest in peace, close to nature and its magic, benefiting, at the same time, from all the facilities of the modern world. For a day or two, maybe, even more, the "ApuZENii" enjoy a delightful landscape, disturbed only by the rustle of nature, and at night, when "the curtain” of stars cover the sky and the tents are lit, the enchanting atmosphere dominates this place.
„"People who live in big cities really appreciate what we have here, because it is unaltered nature. Our platforms do not have such a big impact on the environment. We tried to use as many natural elements as possible. Electricity is from solar panels. Water comes from a spring in the area. Each tent has its own bathroom with hot water. We also have a mini-kitchen, a "fire-pit" - a fireplace. The people who come, and whom we call "apuZENi", stay for a maximum of three days.
The "Hodinarium" will remain open until the beginning of autumn. The owners of the place intend to close it at the beginning of October, when the weather will get colder, and the place will receive, again, its guests at the beginning of next summer. Until then, those who want to reconnect with nature and live the tent experience, but in comfort, are expected in Apuseni, at Buceș -Vulcan, at a "portion" of relaxation at the "Hodinarium".
