A Unique Place in Romania, a Place that Remains in Your Soul

A unique place in Romania, in the Hunedoara county, becomes a camp for photographers. Whether they’re professional or not photographers from every corner of our country gather periodically in „Fundătura Ponorului” to take photos with all the gifts of God.

We’re talking about professional photographers and they all say the same thing : It’s the best place to photographically exploit especially during sunrise.

  A place that remains in your soul

The casual photographers have come so often that the locals are willing to provide them with shelter. However they have to help them as well. For example they help the locals repair their roads and they are thinking about bringing a restoration expert to help them with their old homes.

  “Fundătura Ponorului” is a place that is discovered by your soul. Every time I get there I feel the call of the ancestors (a reference to a song from Cargo). Only after it is engraved in your soul, do the photos appear.” Says Cosmin Bezerghean, a photographer from Mediaş thrilled by the fog that takes place pretty frequently.
    “It’s a place that cleanses your soul. It’s kind of a tell-tale transposed in people and nature. The place’s energy is unique”, says Aurelian Nedelcu.”For me it’s like coming back home, because the area looks like Valea Sebeşului, a place where I grew up as a kid. Every time I go there the place surprises me with something else. No day is like another one regardless of the weather.”, says Radu Paulete.

   „Fundătura Ponorului” is situated in the Şureanu mountains. Its name has been given by the form that it has. The area is very hard to reach and very wild. There are some “summer houses” where locals take their animals to pasture.
